Scott G 904-4 50th Anniversary fly Rod - When graphite arrived on the scene in the mid 70s, Scott founder Harry Wilson's light envisioned a long light line rod using the new rod blank material. When he told friends in the fly fishing community about his idea, they said it could not be done.
Not to be deterred, Wilson forged ahead. After many challenges and attempts, Scott released the first 9 foot 4 line graphite rod. It changed fly fishing.
Anglers had a new tool to fish long leaders and small flies on technical rivers like the Henry's Fork, Hat Creek, and Paradise Valley spring creeks. Anglers could control drag, fish light tippets, and engage large trout like never before.
To this day, the G904/4 is named among the finest light line fly rods ever built. We have used one in the shop while guiding since Anglers Lane began in 1998. Clients love the action which one called "medium" for years, until folks became afraid to describe a rod as anything but fast. Like the original, then anniversary special will lay a dry fly over gently but can handle nymphs and lighter streamers extremely well. A truly classic fly rod.
